The CEF project with Gloucestershire Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust got off to a flying start with the majority of the major plant items being delivered in a single day. Vital Energi have installed a 2.5MW CHP system which is integrated into the Trust’s existing electrical, heating and hot water systems at the Gloucestershire Royal Hospital.
The project also involves the local electricity distribution network operator installing a new High Voltage electricity supply to the hospital in order to increase electricity resilience to the hospital estate and enable the connection of the CHP unit to the national grid.
The £5m energy project is due to complete in a few weeks and guarantees over £10m of energy savings and over 42,000 tonnes of CO2 reduction during the 15 year agreement.
